Save the destination in Chinese

Use a screenshot with hotel name, full street address, district, and phone number. A Chinese address makes taxi, ride-hailing, and tour pickup conversations much faster.

Pick transport by condition, not by price

Daytime and light luggage: try metro if your hotel is near Line 1. Late arrival, heavy bags, family, or weak Chinese: use official taxi or pre-booked transfer.

Check signs for North Terminal transport

Use current airport signs for Metro / 地铁, Taxi / 出租车, Ride-hailing / 网约车, Airport bus / 机场巴士, and Intercity coach / 城际快线. Prioritize the North Terminal signs you see on arrival.

For a tour pickup, stay inside arrivals

Send your guide your flight number, baggage carousel, exit door, and a photo of the sign above you. Move to a parking area or pickup lane after they give you a precise meeting point.

  • Metro ticketing: the official Urumqi Metro ticketing page lists station machines and service centers, plus cash, WeChat, Alipay, Urumqi Metro app QR, and Hongshan card options.
  • Metro timing: the official timetable page is image-based, so use the station display or staff desk for current first/last train information.
  • Bus and intercity routes work best when the transport counter clearly matches your Chinese destination name and same-day departure.
  • For railway transfers, confirm whether your ticket says Urumqi Railway Station, Urumqi South Railway Station, or another station. The names are not interchangeable.
  • For Xinjiang tours, confirm whether pickup is at arrivals, hotel lobby, railway station, or a separate tour meeting point before leaving the airport.
