This guide is current through late 2026. Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport (XMN) is scheduled to be replaced by the new Xiang'an International Airport around the end of 2026 — the exact date has not yet been finalized by authorities, so confirm which airport you're flying into before you travel.
Gaoqi metro station isn't inside the terminal — take the ¥10 Airport Express shuttle (every 25 min, 09:00–21:00) from Gaoqi Station Exit 3 to reach T3/T4. To the city center, ride 11 stops to Zhenhai Road Station (~¥3–5, ~50 min).

Where & how to board
- Xiamen Metro Line 1's nearest stop, Gaoqi Station (高崎站), is not inside the terminal — you need a short connecting ride to reach T3 or T4.
- From Gaoqi Station, leave via Exit 3 (3号出入口) and board the Airport Express (空港快线) shuttle bus, which runs every 25 minutes between 09:00 and 21:00 only. Outside those hours — a very early or late flight — use a taxi or ride-hailing instead.
- Heading to Zhongshan Road, the city center, or the Gulangyu ferry area, ride Line 1 from Gaoqi Station 11 stops to Zhenhai Road Station (镇海路站), the line's western terminus.
Fare & cautions
- The Airport Express shuttle costs ¥10 per ride.
- The metro fare from Gaoqi Station to Zhenhai Road Station is reported at roughly ¥3–5 (an estimate, not a line item on the official fare table) — about a 50-minute ride for 11 stops.
- At Gaoqi Station, the first train toward Zhenhai Road runs at about 06:37 and the last at about 23:26; toward Yannei the first train runs at about 06:30 and the last at about 23:24.
- Pay with an Alipay/WeChat transit QR code, a mainland transit card (易通卡 gets a 10% discount), or cash at the ticket machine.

Official taxi
- Meter
- ¥10 / 3 km
- Per km
- ¥2/km
Where & how to board
- From T3 arrivals, follow 出租车 / Taxi signs to Door 7 (7号自动门) on the 1st floor — that's the taxi rank.
- Heading toward Quanzhou, Shishi, or Zhangzhou, use the west parking lot instead, about 120 m further west, where those routes queue separately.
- Show your address in Chinese and confirm the meter is running before you move.
Fare & cautions
- Flagfall is ¥10 for the first 3 km, then ¥2/km.
- Beyond 8 km, an extra 50% "return-empty" surcharge (返空费) applies per km.
- A night surcharge of about +20% on the per-km rate applies 23:00–05:00 — a general Xiamen taxi rule, not confirmed as airport-specific.
- Travel-guide fare estimates (not an official tariff): to the Yunhe Hotel area (~7 km) about ¥20; to Songbai bus station (~9 km) about ¥30; to the Xiamen–Gulangyu Ferry Terminal about ¥40; to the Jimei University area about ¥20.

Ride-hailing (DiDi / Amap)
Where & how to board
- Set your destination in DiDi before you walk out — DiDi has an English app that works with a foreign card, so it is the ride-hailing option most usable for visitors. Locals use 高德地图 / Amap instead, but the domestic listing is Chinese-first; install the separate AMap Global edition for English.
- From T3, follow 网约车 signs down to Basement 1 (负一楼 / B1), near the fountain (喷水池) — this is a stop-and-go pickup point, not a waiting lot.
- From T4, the pickup point is in front of Gate 13 (13号门).
- Match the car plate to the app before you get in.
Fare & cautions
- There is no fixed airport fare — the app quotes a price before you confirm.
- No official comparison to taxi cost is published for Xiamen; check the app estimate at the time you book.

Airport bus — BRT Airport Line
- Fare
- ¥0.5–4
- Frequency
- 15–30 min
Where & how to board
- 公交机场专线 / BRT Airport Line signs lead to Airport Station (机场站).
- The BRT Airport Line runs from Airport Station to First Pier Hub Station (第一码头枢纽站) near downtown, calling at 文屏路, 谊爱路, 吕岭路, 仙岳路, 金湖路 and 安兜 along the way.
- Note: First Pier (第一码头) is a transfer point with only a resident-only ferry — it is not where you catch the tourist ferry to Gulangyu. The tourist ferry departs separately from the Xiamen International Cruise Center at Dongdu (东渡邮轮中心/厦鼓码头).
Fare & cautions
- The fare starts at ¥0.5 and is distance-based, up to ¥4 for the full route; a 10% discount applies with an E-Tong (易通卡) transit card.
- Buses run about every 15 minutes at peak times and every 16–30 minutes off-peak. Exact first/last bus times are not confirmed — check the on-site schedule or signage.

How we verify airport routes
- We prefer airport, metro, rail, and government operator pages for route, ticketing, terminal, and schedule claims.
- If an exact fare, pickup bay, or last-train time is not confirmed on an operator page, we tell travelers to check it instead of publishing a number.
- Last-updated dates mark when source links and page claims were reviewed.
